Materials Characterization Engineer

onsemi is searching for a Materials Characterization Engineer who will aid in the characterization of materials related to the growth of silicon carbide crystals.
This position is responsible for inspection, characterization, and evaluation of a variety of technical materials and equipment for use in target applications ranging from bulk crystal growth to fabrication equipment and consumables.
The Material Characterization Engineer will ensure testing methods and capabilities meet applicable industry standards.
This position will be based in Hudson, NH and report to the Materials Characterization Engineering Manager.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Operates, calibrates, and maintains existing functionality of the lab equipment, and tools.
Creates reports documenting experimental details and test results in a timely manner and presents to specialists and non-specialists Develops work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), control plans, and visual aids for use of lab equipment and processes.
Prepares paperwork for sample shipping and analytical work request.
Sample preparation and shipping to partners and/or customers.
Evaluates new or existing equipment.
Reviews literature reports and industry standards to guide in the analysis of materials characterizationCompetencies:
Knowledge of modern materials characterization methodologies and terminology.
Strong leadership, organization, communication, and management skills required.
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with X-ray diffraction data analysis Works well independently and as a team player, with a strong work ethic.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to synthesize technical information and present it to specialists and non-specialists.
Ability to interpret and speak to process and quality principles, including data review.
Make strategic decisions and deliver succinct, direct plans to teams for execution.

Requirements:
Masters or Ph.
D.
Chemistry, Engineering, or Material Science from an accredited university.
2 years of equipment engineering experience.
Experience in crystal growth, semiconductor, or related materials Experience with chemical, optical, and mechanical characterization methods, ideally for ceramics, graphite, crystalline materials, or semiconductors.
Manages multiple projects and priorities with good organizational and time management skills (both project and self).
Characterization and inspection equipment operation and knowledge.
Fundamental understanding of the science behind Metrology tools Fundamental understanding of semiconductor device physics Fundamental understanding of practical SPC and DOE methodology Fundamental understanding of continuous improvement in yield, throughput, and cost reduction Advanced data analysis skills, must be able to learn and apply various software applications quickly Competency in problem-solving and statistical data analysis Must be well-organized, energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented Must work well in a team environment Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Oracle, a plus.
Works with minimal supervision.
